One day the husband thinks he is talking to his loving wife, but it is actually her long lost sister out for revenge. It adds a layer of suspense that keeps you shouting at the screen. You’re sitting there thinking, “How can he not tell the difference?” but that is just part of the fun. It is ridiculous, sure, but it is also highly entertaining.
The Plastic Surgery Makeover
Sometimes an actor wants to leave a show, but the character is too important to kill off. What do the writers do? They involve a car accident and a very talented plastic surgeon. In real life, surgery takes months to heal and you still look somewhat like yourself. In serials, you go under the knife and come out looking like a completely different human being with a different height and voice.

It’s a classic way to create conflict without actually introducing new villains. We hate it because we want them together, but we keep watching to see that moment when the memories finally come rushing back.
Leap of Faith into the Future
When a show has been running for five years and the kids are starting to get boring, the creators decide it is time for a “leap.” Suddenly, the screen says “20 Years Later,” and the toddlers are now played by twenty five year old actors. The parents are suddenly wearing grey wigs and glasses to look old, even though their skin still looks perfect.
This twist is huge because it basically starts a whole new show within the old one. We see new romances and new rivalries, while the old characters become the wise elders of the house. Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and Balika Vadhu did this brilliantly. It allows the show to stay fresh and attract a younger audience while keeping the loyal fans who grew up with the original cast.
